What Gemini Spark for Photos actually does
Gemini Spark is Google's push into "agentic" AI — instead of just answering a question, it carries out multi-step tasks across your connected apps. With Google Photos now connected, you can hand it a single instruction and it will work through your library to complete it, rather than you doing the searching, editing, and organizing yourself.
The three things it can do
Google's own examples fall into three buckets. Search and curate: find specific photos or videos by subject, location, date, or event, and ask Gemini to pick the best shots or filter out duplicates. Edit and create: quickly enhance photo quality, apply fixes, or generate collages and stylized images — edits are saved as a new copy, so your original photo is never overwritten. Organize and share: create new shared or private albums, save curated photos into them, and send links to those albums through connected apps like Gmail, Google Docs, and Messages.
Google's own examples include turning 100+ vacation photos into a cleaned-up shared album with an emailed recap, converting whiteboard snapshots into drafted team emails, and checking an event flyer photo against your calendar.
