How the "Safety Circle" works
Inside the Truecaller app, you can create a Safety Circle of up to five people. One member -- usually whoever is most comfortable with tech -- becomes the family admin, effectively acting as the household's own scam-protection lead. The admin gets notified when another circle member receives a call Truecaller has flagged as suspicious.
The standout feature: Remote Call Hang-Up
If a family member is currently on a call that looks like a scam, the admin can remotely end that call in real time, straight from their own phone -- without needing to call the person or talk them through hanging up while they're mid-conversation with a scammer. Truecaller first tested this in Sweden, Chile, Malaysia, and Kenya before rolling it out globally, including India, in March 2026 -- India being the company's single largest market.
What's still coming: AI auto-disconnect
Truecaller is also exploring a fully automatic version: using AI to listen for scam-associated keywords like "digital arrest" and disconnecting the call on its own, with no human needing to intervene.
