Siri AI Adds Five New Languages in iOS 27.2: What Changes

Apple’s AI-powered Siri now has beta support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, alongside English. The expansion appeared in the iOS 27.2 beta, ahead of the October window Apple had described. The same update leaves out the European Union, where Apple says it has no timeline for Siri AI at all.

⚡ Quick facts

  • Feature: Siri AI language support
  • Added in iOS 27.2 beta: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish
  • Beta 1: September 16, 2026
  • Apple’s stated window: October 2026
  • Not available in the EU: Apple says it has no timeline there
  • Hindi: not in the list

What Apple added in iOS 27.2

Siri AI launched with iOS 27 in English only. iOS 27.2 beta 1, released on September 16, 2026, was the first build to show the other languages working. Apple had said additional languages would come soon after launch, and the beta is the first concrete evidence of that.

The change matters most for people who speak one of the five languages and have so far used Siri in English. The languages are the ones Apple chose for this phase, so the update does not mean Siri AI now covers every major language.

Which languages are in, and which are not

The five additions are French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Hindi and the other Indian languages are not on the list. Apple has not said whether they are planned, so readers in India should not expect Hindi Siri AI on the October timeline.

Support in the beta does not confirm that every feature works the same way in each language. Readers should check the release notes for the final version before relying on a specific command.

Why the EU is still left out

The European gap has nothing to do with language support. In June, Apple said Siri AI would be delayed in the EU because of the Digital Markets Act. EU regulators did not accept the workarounds Apple proposed, such as an intermediary layer for third-party assistants. Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, said Apple has no current timeline for Siri AI on iOS and iPadOS in the EU.

For EU users, the practical result is that the new languages do not change anything. The update reaches only the markets where Siri AI is already offered.

What is still unconfirmed

The sources checked give October as Apple’s window for the languages, but none give a final release date for iOS 27.2 itself. It is also not confirmed that all five languages will be offered in every country where Siri AI is available. Until Apple publishes the final notes, treat the language list as the beta list.

What to do now

If you want to test the languages, install the beta on a secondary device first. Beta software can change between builds, and the language list may differ in the final release.
